(WEEK 14 ) Demonstration and Complete Full Report

For this week , i have done the Presentation Final Year Project and Demonstration at Gemilang Hall. After settle all this, i finished my full FYP report. With some guide and assist from advisor, i have come to a conclusion for this FYP. Some development on report must be made in methodology chapter relating system block diagram, software development and also project workflow issues.

Finally I conclude overall about the My Final Year Project during this semester.
 Gud Luck for my self...
  keep smile always..  (^_^)

(WEEK 13) CreatePoster

For this week,I prepared a poster to show the advisor to recheck and make corrections.

In this poster, it will explain briefly about the objective, project description, methodology, block diagram of my project, result that get from experiment that i do at last week and also conclusion.
From this poster, people will know in generally what i was do in this FYP.

For conclusion, this poster will help my presentation because at this poster have all information and will make audience understand the general purpose of my project.

(WEEK 12) Result of Project

According to this project, the result will display in two condition. first condition is "baby in a good condition"  , second is " warning!! please looking the baby". The result will display depend on the Stretch Sensor signal. when the expansion and contraction occur, that mean the baby in a good condition. but if no expansion and contraction occur within 0-15 sec, the Stretch Sensor will send the signal to Pin A1 at microcontroller. By the way when the Pin A1 received the 5V, all output will be turn ON , such as buzzer, vibration motor, and LCD display based on the programmed.

This figure show the process of Apnea Monitor. This picture include the apnea belt , connector wire and master control divice. After all devices has connected, put the apnea belt around the baby chest.

This figure shown the result of LCD when the baby was breathing . (Expansion sensor)

This figure shown the result of LCD when the baby was stop  breathing. (no  expansion  occur)

(WEEK 11) Analysis of Project

Based on this project, when the Stretch Sensor increased expansion, the resistance of Stretch Sensor will increased while the voltage will decreased. But when no expansion occur the resistance of Stretch Sensor will decreased and while the voltage will increased to 5V, and will send the signal to PIC microcontroller.

The table below shows the result measuring resistance and voltage during the expansion of Stretch Sensor to approve the result.

If stretch sensor has increase expansion, voltage output at Pin A1 will be decreased.

This figure show the voltage of stretch sensor  is 5V when no expansion and contraction occur.

The figure below show the value of resistance and output voltage when sensor increases the expansion. It can conclude that, when resistance increase, the voltage will decrease.

Resistance = 0.9kΩ   voltage = 4V

Resistance = 1.3kΩ   voltage = 3V

From the measurement tested, the voltage are measured at stretch sensor while detect the contraction movement   from 4.5V dc to 1V when the expansion sensor occur.

(WEEK 10) Simulation

The Figure is show about the simulation circuit of the project. This circuit will be testing together with programming. Simulation method is a good method to testing the device same as a real devices.

The stretch sensor as a input devices and the output device which is buzzer, vibration and LCD. When the Pin A1 at microcontroller receives the output voltage which is 5V, the buzzer and vibration motor will be ON. Besides that, the LCD will display the baby condition based on program.

(WEEK 9) Create Program software

This project have counter to counting when the apnea episode happened and about the limitation of stretch sensor, we can take the average value of contraction to program in PIC microcontroller program. The first thing need to be there before start to program is list down the all the instruction and should be known function of each input devices to generate the output devices. Every function of input devices will be declared on the programming. Hardware and software should be combined between interfacing controller to getting the final output.

  1. -Proteus Software
  2. -Mplab
  3. -Pickit 2

This three software is very important to use or doing simulation. It related each other. To do simulation for circuit and programming, we use proteus software. For command or programming we use mplab software ant tu burn into pic  we use software pic kit.

(WEEK 8) Hardware and Circuit

PCB Assembly

This Figure shows the circuit during process and testing on the breadboard

This Figure shows the assembly circuit  and testing on the prototype project

This Figure shows the top view assembly circuit inside the box

The figure shows the circuit during do the testing for LCD circuit.

From the Figure  shows the complete process of the circuit development. The next processes of the project were program installation.

(WEEK 7) Apnea Belt

The apnea belt it’s include the stretch sensor and vibration motor. This belt will wrap around the baby chest to detect the expansion and contraction movement.

This figure shows the process to built apnea belt by sewing and cutting the fabric had selected for apnea belt.

This figure shows the process to put the vibration motor and put the connection wire to produce the vibrations.

This figure shows the stretch sensor had connected to apenea belt and process to put the connection wire to apnea belt.

This figure shows the complete process of development of apnea belt. The next process is combine with control board were program  installation.

(WEEK 6) Measurement of Stretch Sensor

During the testing for stretch sensor, there some result about the value resistance for each inch of stretch sensor.

The picture above showed  the stretch sensor used for this project .It already cut in within 1 inch equal 0.5kΩ depend  to our project.

The result stretch sensor without expanded. (Sensor not stretch)

(WEEK 5) Testing circuit

The next activity is doing the testing circuit before do the program.

This figure show the testing circuit for buzzer and vibration motor. This part is important because there all output devices.

This figure show the testing circuit for LCD display. The LCD will display the result based on the program.

(WEEK 4) Pin Assignment

Pin Assignment For Pic Microcontroller

For this part, the pin assignment is used to ensure the at which port to connect of all the circuit. It also use to determined which part is input(i/p) and the other part is output(o/p). Basically, pic 16f877 have four  i/p and o/p port which is port A, port B, port C and port D. By separate the i/p and o/p port, it will make the easier way to program the circuit part by part.

This pin assignment is important because its related when running the programming part and to the connection of the circuit is depend on this pin assignment.

(WEEK 3) Continued Current Progress

The first thing.. i decide to change the block diagram to more simple block diagram. The figure block diagram which is below.

This block diagram more simple and easy to understand. Because previous block diagram is caused the confused between input device and output devices.

(WEEK 2)

This week i do the check list to by the all component for my project. But i have the problem with my sensor, because the stretch sensor cannot get in Malaysia so i had to order this sensor at oversea and take about 3 week to reach.

Actually this stretch sensor or flexible stretch sensor cord

(WEEK 1) My Final Years Project 2

This years I have continue to doing my Final Years Project (2). Before start doing this project, i met my supervisor madam Zaridah bt Mat Zain to finalize my project.  Actually my project send the data using transmit and receiver, but after presentation last sem, my assessors sir Hisham comment a little bit about my project. He advice me to change the way to send the data, because the infant's respiratory is too small and maybe some problem occurred when sending a signal  using  transmit and receiver because the data or value also too small. So after doing the discussion with my assessors, we decide to change the transmitter and use the  normal wire.

This picture above shown the block diagram before change
